These poems and prayer were written during The Battle of Guadalcanal which began Aug 7, 1942 by R.M. McCarthey, Seaman 2nd Class, CUB 3, Unit 4, and given to his friend Seaman 2nd Class Jerry Holton, who was part of the same unit. 

      Permission to share these and to pay tribute to Seaman McCarthey was given by Jerry Holton on 7 Aug 2004 - marking the 62nd anniversary of this battle.  Let us all pay tribute to those who have served and continue to serve our great nation.
